Are you going to the homecoming night with a date? Remember that it's not mandatory to have a partner and go alone to this event. But if you do have a date, especially if he's someone you have a relationship with for a long time now, you might want to coordinate each other's outfits. While most boys can wear the classic tux to homecoming, it doesn't hurt to consider matching your outfit together. Besides, some boys will also love to dress to impress. But how can you do this right?  Check out our suggestions below.

Avoid an exact match

You might want to avoid looking like a twin unless you're wearing them as a joke or you're attending a themed party of some sort. Essentially, you will want to avoid a set of his-and-her apparel that is made with the same colors and fabric. This also means that when you're opting for custom-made outfits, you might want to avoid the same tailor or dressmakers.

Subtly complement each others' colors

Complement each other's apparel by wearing one of the hottest homecoming dresses for this season in a color that matches your partner's shirt. Ideally, his color should be in a lighter shade than yours. So if you're thinking of having a gorgeous blue dress, your partner can wear a light blue shirt under his black formal jacket.

His accessories matching your dress

This is another way of subtly complementing each others' outfit without going overboard. For example, your maroon dress can look great with his pastel red tie, which he'll be wearing with a black and white outfit. Another example is matching your beige dress with the beige handkerchief on his chest pocket. Whatever the accessory he can match to your dress, it's ideal that the rest of his outfit is in neutral colors.

Realize that you don't have to complement each other

If planning for a couple's look for the homecoming ends up in a heated argument, remember that you really don't have to match one another's outfit or dress colors. You can both opt for classic, timeless appeal and still look harmonious together during the night.
